To learn more about the seasoned expertise behind the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, look no further than the pioneering work of NSD’s Senior Scientist Spencer Klein and engineer Thorsten Stezelberger. Both veteran “IceCubers” who helped build the massive South Pole detector recently traded the relative comfort of polar stations for a rugged camping expedition on the Ross Ice Shelf. By leveraging their years of experience drilling sensors into the Antarctic crust, they are now testing the next generation of radio-antenna technology for ARIANNA—a project designed to expand upon IceCube’s legacy and push the boundaries of neutrino science into a new frontier.
