Jayson Vavrek is a Research Scientist in the Applied Nuclear Physics Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received a BSc Physics (Hons) from the University of Alberta in 2014 and SM and PhD degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016 and 2019. He joined LBNL as a Postdoctoral Scholar in 2019 and became a Research Scientist in 2023, and specializes in radiation detection and imaging with applications to wide-area contamination mapping, nuclear treaty verification, and detector characterization/optimization.
